Anyone have pictures/ideas for a stripped 1/2 ton 4x4?

Hey everyone, I've been looking at getting a super low-buck offroader to play around with. I'm looking more at 1/2 tons, I-6, 5 speed. I'm thinking of stripping everything off it to make it as light as possible. I will just open up the wheel wells instead of lifting it way up (may get a small lift though). My goal is dirt cheap, and entirely function over form. Just something that I can beat up and not worry about.

Anyone else have a beater like this and can share pictures and low buck ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Pretty much what Paul said.......

my 77 started as a cheap player now its not so cheap.... lol

It was cheap when all i had was the stock 351m and 32's then i wanted bigger tires so i bought some 38's then i wanted more power so i got a 460 but i need a fuel pump to feed the 460 so i bought a holley blue then i wanted more gears so i went to 4.11's then i Blew up the 460 and it sat for 2 years where it got more gears, and the fuel pump locked up from setting and no longer works so i bought a BG280 worst mistake EVER put a Junk yard 429 in it and bought another fuel pump to replace the Barry grant....... oh and while it was down i got ride of 2 38 TSL's and got 2 38.5x15 boggers

Ill have to see if i cant find some orginal pics of it... and then some as it progressed...

Thanks for the input guys! I guess I can live with it snow balling a bit. Haha. Hopefully the light weight will allow it to be good enough for a while. I love the look of that truck Dave! I saw a picture a while back of a guy who just rachet strapped a pallet to the frame behind the cab, but your's looks better. Now I just have to decide on F-100/150 or a Bronco... leaning towards the pickup though.

That was my DD at one time. 351M, C6, 205, 5.13s and 39.5 tsls in that picture. On 4 inches of lift.

But, without doors the roof folds to the dash easy when u set it on its roof. The pipes held up the back of the cab tho. Lol.

Yeah, I know these cabs aren't too fond of rollovers.

Honestly if you want a resonably cheap beater, I don't think you can beat a solid axle Toyota. Unless your mudding then your going to need more power.

No I really think you dont.

I kinda miss that pickup. It grew into a ginormous expensive garage space taker.

i have always wanted to just strip down a frame and build a heavy *** cage and make a screw around buggy myself and when i get around to making the 7deuce a 4x4 this winter i might take the old 2wd frame throw a 360 and a c6 on it and put some 42" tall fertilizer spreader tires i have accumulated on the rear i think it would be awesome but thats just me

Quick Reply: Anyone have pictures/ideas for a stripped 1/2 ton 4x4?
