Well the 2500 didn't stand a chance. The 1500 was close on takeoff, but still failed in comparison. This is based on fact. I've done it and seen it with my own two eyes. This is only based on pavement. Mud is a whole nother subject for a different day. Yes my truck is a 5.4L Supercrew Lariat. It has a CAI and Exhaust. Supercharger was in the plan but the way the economy is, it seems it'll have to wait. With the Whipple, smaller u/d Pulleys and a good tune and it won't matter which dodge pulls up to the light.

ok, im a newbie, and a new ford convert, so not sure i can chime in as a diehard fan, but i just wanted to say this. i now own a 1980 f250 supercab, converted to dually, with now 460/c6 combo, alot of new parts, bucket seats, dual tanks, not pretty but not bad. drives great, and cost me less then what a stock 454 engine only would have cost me. hmmmm, cost effective, hellz yeah. just my comment from a new convert.

That's it! So many old Fords just keep screwing down the road, the average Ford "fleet" appears older than the rest...because it IS older///because it just keeps on keepin' on. No shame in that.

Trouble you're seeing, jimford1, is time works against any ride that tries to last longer than the rest there in Buffalo (we're nearly neighbors, I know what the salt does). It ages the body and literally steals the truck out from under you, a little at a time.

I love my Bronco and my 68ranger. You are right Muddyaxles! I always pay attention to what trucks I see. I always see late 80's and up fords still working!! I loved my old chevies, and like I said I dont bash other brands. But I pay attention because I get crap sometimes. Most of the time it is just a friend messin around. I cant get over how many Broncos I see here! With all the rust and stuff I see 10 broncos to one blazer. Maybe seen three ramchargers in total. Ford makes a good truck. I get that good feeling when I see a 78 ford dump-truck runnin! I started this thread in 2004 that is crazy!! I was just looking in a 4x4 magazine and saw a mud bog thing down south. It was cool to see so many old fords dominate. Sounds gay but I would love to live in a town like that. I know my buddy in kentucky said that the chevies rust faster than the fords there. A lot of ford guys in his town. Sucks here in Buffalo because of the huge chevy plant here. EVERYONE gets the GM discount here. There is the huge Ford stamping plant here too but not nearly as many employees. Plus the is American Axle too. Every immediate family member can get the discount. I have so many stories of GM employees, how they take 4 hour luches and dont do crap. But get paid 50000 a year.

I'm surrounded by people at work who drive the Japanese big three, German cars and a Caddy. Three of us are Ford die hards and we catch crap all the time.

The funny thing is, our Fords cost a fraction of some of the high end vehicles, are older than thiers and have had no issues.

Fords are reliable and solid and last for years with regular maintanence.

I tell the owners of the Japanese cars that they would have been money ahead if they had simply bought the Ford.

Just today I added the FTE facebook application and my Dodge loving buddy just had to make a negative comment. His '04 HEMI RAM has been through 2 rear end rebuilds, one transmission replacement and an electical fire. The best part is hes only at 60,000 miles. He always has a great time making bad comments about fords, but whenever someone makes a comment about how crappy mopars in general are he turns into a big baby!

Speaking of Dodge, my stepson is a travelling saleman with ECOLAB and thier coporate leasing company uses primarily Dodge products. So, he's currently in a 2008 Magnum V-6 and already has 69K miles on it. The car has been meticulously maintained as per the leasing agreement.

The engine has a constant rapping sound coming form it. I asked him if t he dealer had checked it out and they said it was the fuel injectors. Sounds like lifters to me. Anyway, the car has had numerous issues which is consistant with other Dodges that he's had.
