I guess finished is a relative term. I need wheels, and maybe a few other things. The color is dark candy apple red from a 2008 Mustang. It is a ford color. The front end is original with rack & pinion steering kit mounted to the straight axle. The hinge pins are the same as stock but are polished stainless steel.

Wow! "Finished" I've only heard that term used in this forum maybe once before in all my years here.

Congrats! The truck looks great. I see a lot of very subtle dark side touches (which I like). Very sympathetic to the original truck though. You should be proud!

I am very happy with the way it turned out. My wife and my wallet says it is finished but i do need different wheels. I hope i didn't mislead everyone but i had a friend of mine do the paint and what little body work that needed done. I did the steering, brakes, wiring etc.
When i bought the truck almost 5 years ago i wanted one i could drive and work on as i got the money. It worked out very well doing it that way so i had time to think about what i wanted to do next. The wiring was the first major thing i did more out of necessity than desire. While i had everything tore apart i decided to add the new gauges and electric wipers. After that i had the upholestry done, then i did the steering and the brakes. After i had all of these things done my wife and i decided to get it painted before i am to old to enjoy it. We were looking around on the new car lots on a sunday afternoon and saw a new mustang sitting on the lot with the color we both liked at the same time.
The bed floor is a steel plate laid down over the old original floor and the stainless strips are bolted thru both new and old steel floor. I really wanted to do something different and still keep somewhat to the original style of the bed since the 48's didn't come with the wood floor.

It's BEAUTIFUL!

But...."the truck is finished." Wow, that's about as impossible a statement as seeing a woman standing in front of a mirror and saying " Ya know, I think I'm thin enough - if not a little too thin." tee hee. Even if you can't find anything else to do to it, it will probably adopt a beat up little brother or something that follows it home some day.

Congratulations!

Julie!

Indeed, VERY nice. Is the Ford Logo painted on the tailgate or is it a decal?
If it's a decal where did you get it?
