2006 coolant pump belt replacing

I seem to have a noise coming from near the coolant pump area when the truck is being started first thing in the morning. Did a lot of looking but no luck on how to replace the small belt that comes of the cam shaft to turn the coolant pump. It is easy to remove with a good knife but not sure how to get the new one back on. I also noticed some discoloration in the groves of the belt as well. Any and all help will be great.

Ya know, I was just reading about how to do that just the other day, but darn if I can remember where it was! Try doing a search, if not on here then try google.

I can only find info on the water pump with the tensioner between the pulleys. On this one I dont see anything but the two pulleys and the belt. I would think that somewhere there is a way to adjust it or at least loosen it up to put on a new belt. Thanks again.

Reminds me of the old Cummins diesel where the waterpump housing was an eccentric. You had to loosen the pump and turn it in the block, while it is now leaking coolant cuz it's loose. Surely this wouldn't be like that? I'll have to peek at mine. BTW you're not talking about the power steering pump by mistake are you?

It has two hoses coming out of it one goes to the radiator the other kind of snakes around a bit. It is on the battery / air box side of engine. I can take a picture if you would like.

That is the power steering pump. I'll have to look at mine to figure out how to adjust.

The hose that goes to the radiator is about 2.5 to 3 inches in diameter and has spring type clamps on the outlets, not high pressure lines at all.

well... the bad news is that after you did the easy part ... cutting.... you get to do the hard part... you have to turn the engine... :-( That's right. Basically, you put the belt on one of the drives and then wedge it partially on the other (as far as you can). Then you slowly turn the engine to cause the pulley drive to turn and hopefully you "slowly" guide the belt onto the second pulley drive.... much like putting a tire on a bicycle rim... BUT DO NOT USE a screw driver or equivalent that may break or mar the belt guides on the pulley drives. I haven't tried this yet but couldn't believe the "method" suggested. Another good ford idea... as someone mentioned before... kind like changing their back plugs.... :-)

That just figures, guess it is a good time to get the water pump replaced. You are so right about the plugs, did them in her 2002 escape but if I remember right I only needed one size socket, that was almost funny. Thanks for the help.
