VW Diesel

I have been looking at buying a Jetta TDI, which model is the best. if its a difference between 45 and 50 mpg i'll take the one thats faster/more power.
i would rather buy a ford diesel car, but for some dumba$$ reason they don't make one. think of the idiot diesel uts like myself that would bankrupt themselves to get their hands on one.

My 09 TDI gets only low 40s, older models, 06 and back get around 50-52 and there is no real power in a car like this, lol.

If you're looking for best fuel mileage, you should look into the old diesels. 80's vw diesels can log over 60mpg easily. Also, its not weird to see one w/ 400k miles on it that has never needed any major repair, and wont need any any time soon. They are, however, getting pretty pricey, and quite a pain in the arse to find.

I'm all VW.

Certainly! And while they are not powerhouses, all the early VWs weight much less that 2000lbs. My 130 hp 1600lb car will smoke many many "fast" cars.

My brother has a '96 VW Passat with the TDI. Even with upgraded injectors, bad GPs, 425k, and a poor running, tired motor, it still gets mpg in the low-mid 40s . This summer were probably gonna rebuild the sucker, starting to run like a POS, hard to start and what have ya.

When I was running my shop simple parts having to come from a warehouse in pa. and the parts prices turned me off any vw products so I have not paid any attention as to what is available today.

I Love The VW oil burners.Have had about 10 so far. I would suggest finding a dealer with a 2009 in stock and driving it.You'll love it too! I would get the Sport Wagon and go have a blast.I have a 1983 Quantum Wagon for lugging around town and all. I'd have a new 09 if Mommy would let me. But she Loves her Town Car.

If you do some looking around you can probably find an 06 with incredibly low miles for an awesome price. I paid 25k for my 09 and love it and all but I kinda wish I would've went out and found a nice 06.
