I got home from work today and when I shut the truck off I heard a grind and bang. Got out and looked under the truck coolant was spewing out. I replaced the water pump about 3 months ago. How tight does it have to be? I drove about 800 miles til it did it. Damn now I have to get a radiator.
A guy on craigslist has a radiator out of a 98 E350 powerstroke for $100.00 does anybody know if it will fit? I've seen multiple sizes on different sites for 97 F350 radiators. Thanks in advance!

I think Rick nailed it. If the fan clutch is going bad up it might spin off like yours did. A diesel comes to a halt pretty quick because of the high compression ratio. That sudden stop along with a fan clutch hanging-up could make it do that. I have never used or needed lock-tite on a screw on fan, besides....it might be a real PITA to get off next time.
I checked the fan clutch out and you can't hardly turn it by hand so I assume its bad. I found one on ebay for $70. Radiator isn't in too bad of shape. I'm gonna take it to a guy hopefully today to get it repaired.
Well i got a new radiator and a seemingly good fan clutch back in the truck and i'm back on the road. I made sure to put some locktite on the big nut that holds the fan assembly to the pulley this time....lol. Thanks for your replys everybody!
