I recently replaced a vacuum line on my ford escape leading to what the ford parts man called an oil separator.
This line had a large hole in it and now I get a whiff of oil like it was spilled on the engine block and the plugs seem to be fouling, the engine has trouble idling when cold.
I ran some fuel injector cleaner through it and the problem went away until I put regular gas in it.
I replaced the Idle Control Valve but this did not help.
