Just picked up my first idi 2 weeks ago. Since I turned 16 I had been wanting to get a diesel so I could have a truck to use, and not spend *** loads of money driving to and from school everyday, and it took me almost a year to find the right engine/trans combo in my price range

87 F250 XL 6.9/ZF5. Paid 800 for it

Day I brought it home

After putting new feet and shoes on

It is sans headache rack now so I can do some work on it.

I'm 24 and just bought my first Ford diesel. 1986 F250 4x4 with a 4 speed. Haven't got it on the road yet, towed it home. Needs clutch and brake work to be safely driven. Can't wait to have it roadworthy!

Thanks man. It's not perfect. The bed has seen far better days, and there is a rattle that I can't figure out in the trans. Other than that it's been a great truck. Spend some time cleaning it and making it look nice. I DD the truck, and it goes down the road beautifully. No slop in the steering, doesn't wander. On the plus side, doesn't leak a drip of anything

I know I know old thread and all but I figured I would drop in here and try and lure more IDI people here My second truck is an IDI (F350 in my sig) and my first diesel. I LOVE Big Blue but I have wanted a diesel since forever so I got this one. It has a ton of blow by, burns/leaks almost as much oil as it does diesel and the injectors leaks so it smokes like crazy but that thing has some serious get up and go! I can black out the block if I really get on it hehe. Thats what I love about these old IDIs is even when one is pretty worn they still run like a top. Lets see a 6.0 do that :P Oh and I'm 18 currently will be 19 in a few months.
