My 69 has the original wheels on it and I am thinking about getting some new/used steel wheels for it. Would the factory wheels off of a late model F350 (95-05) fit on it without any issues? Any feedback would be appreciated. The truck has drum brakes on the front, if it makes any difference.

 

No, the newer ones have a 170mm bolt pattern, while your truck has a 6.5" pattern

Dodge wheels, I think. GM are the same bolt pattern, but the centers are smaller.

 

The title of the thread says "dually" wheels, but the 170mm pattern is the standard 8 lug. What are we talkin here?

I know the standard 8 lugs and don't know squat about the dually stuff...

I have covered the standard wheels fitment in 4 or 5 older threads.

I guess we are talking single rear wheel trucks then - not dually.

I had a brain fart earlier when saying I have covered this before - I have done that multiple times - but in the 73-79 forum.

Here is a quick break down. Any 8 lug off a Ford TRUCK up to 97 will bolt on. In 98 there were no F-250s/350's and in 99 they went to the 8x170mm hubcentric setup.
8 lug Ford van rims up until at least 2007 will fit. I have dealer take offs off a 2007 Van on my 74 F-250 crew cab

As far as I know neither chevy nor dodge to this day has switched from the 8x6.5" lug pattern. Chevy rims often have a smaller center bore and will not fit over the rear hubs on our Dana 60 rears. Dodge uses dana 60's, 70's and even 80's in their 2500 & 3500 trucks (3/4 and 1 ton) so they typically do not have the center bore problem.

Remember you can also have late model Ford rims drilled and inserted by a rim shop to convert the lug pattern. 6.5" = 165.1mm - so the difference between the old and new holes is only 4.9mm over 6.5" or so!!!!

1967/79 F350:

DOTZ1007A .. Wheel ~ 16.5" x 6" / Use with dual rear wheels only.

5.00" offset / 4 holes coined inward / 4 holes coined outward.
------------------------------------------------------------
D1TZ1015A .. Wheel ~ 16.5" x 6" / Use with single rear wheels only.

.50" offset.

I have a 72 F350 DW I want to convert to 16" one piece steel wheels. I'd like to use something common in the junk yard, but would buy new if had to.

Is the main issue with the duals the oposing coined lug holes as well as the placement pins? Are the same wheels used for the front axle?

so if I read all this right I need "coined" whells for my 1967 F350 dually.
Ford made them until around 1983.
I want 16" coined wheels that are not split rim. So my question is did chevy or dodge make any wheels that will fit and work correctly for me, if so what years.

 

I don't believe they need to be coined. As long as tour running the right lugs for the rims.

The single tire and dual wheel rear axles are the same. The dualy front hubs are offset so you can use the same 6 rims all around. Dualies can rotate all 6 tires. Newer dualies have a different tire on the stearing axle for traction reasons. Many new comertial drive axle tires have a very square sidewall because round tires bulge and kiss between the dualies and the get realy hot when the touch and then burst.
Just find any old dualy rims off the oldest ford you can find. Have the rubber removed and then blast the rims and spray them with some rim paint.

 

so what years of dodge and chevy wheels will work for me, does anybody know, I can't find any ford wheels close to me.

 

Hey i'm looking for new rims for my 71 crew cab f250 and don't know what lug pattern they are can anyone answer what the 8 lug pattern is on these its 4x4 also

 

1953/96 F250: 8 lug wheels on a 6.50" bolt circle. 2WD/4WD makes no difference.
