How many quarts of oil for the 5.0

I have a 92 F-150 with the 5.0. I changed the oil the other day, I put 5 qts. and the dipstick and it still shows that I'm still a qt. low. I looked at the owners manual and it said it takes 5 qts. So how many should I put in it? Thanks, Jeff.

If the pan holds 5 quarts then you will have to remark the dip stick. This is a stock oil pan correct?

6 with filter.
Right on the money and straight out of the owner's manual. Best I remember, all the gasoline engines from 87-96 require six quarts of oil to refill after an oil and filter change.

Acctually alot of mechanics who use only synthetic do it every other... or if the oil change is because of droping a pan or something like that.

Seems like with synthetic oil and its extended drain capabilities, the filter would be change more often than the oil, not the other way around...

At our shop we change the filter any time we have to dump the oil, its only like a few bucks and you might as well. With syn and the longer oil changes id have to say ud better change it. My boss wants 4k with the semi-syn that we have in a huge tank, and 5K on full-syn and diesel oil changes. I do 3K on what we use in most cars caus thats just me, and ill do like 4 on the syn and diesel just caus thats also me. Id do 3 on the diesel if i could caus that stuff gets so nasty, but with the Fords takin 15 qt, and the chevs/dodge taking 9-12 and at 89.99 we cant do it like that lol.

I tend to do 7 to 10k miles on the full syn. I had a girlfriend once who's dad only changed the filter every other oil change. Thought he was saving money. It worked for them her car had well over 250k miles on when it finally died.
