power smoker

i have '97 f250 with about 210k miles on the clock . been thinking of contacting rosewood diesel and sending my injectors to be refurbished into stage 1's. it has not been running quite right for about a month. extra smoke when starting when it was cold and idleing rough until it warmed up.bought new glow plugs and planned on putting them in when i sent my injectors in. stared it up friday to go to work and it seems like its running on 7 cyls. lots of grey smoke(white with black). im talking lots of smoke. i shut it down and took my other truck to work. im thinking an injector took a poop. about a year ago i had to put in valve cover gaskets, under valve cover wire harness and a new injector control module. a shop did that. $2300. worth of stuff. so im not thinking its that.any thoughts?

I would still check the harness for burnt pins.....another cause could be IPR orings.

I would take off the 10K mod and see if the black smoke goes away. This morning it was 27 degrees and I had a lot of white smoke until I took off then in about 1 1/2 blocks all was well. Might just want to take that mod off and take truck for a spin.

weird sound could have been your EBPV.....your orings can be bad on the IPR and not leak oil

ebpv has been unplugged for 2 years. actuating arm for it is in the same position it has been. open . dont know about the ipr. disconnected coons 10k and no change ,still seems like its not running on all 8. smoke? looks like the house is on fire . its parked next to the house and it will engulf the whole house with smoke. thank you for your help. i just hope i'm going in the right direction with looking at the injectors as being the culprit.

injectors were the culprit. found 2 that were not torqued down. on one of those the copper gasket was non existant anymore. the whole end was black. the bottom o ring on that one was in real bad shape . i'm glad i found something that could say "there's the problem." i dont know what the previous owner had done to the truck ,but only one injector had a backup ring for the o ring second down from the top . i took a pic ,but dont know how to upload it. need to contact jim at rosewood for stage1's .
thanks for the help, would not have tackled it without this site

Send them to him today and chances are you will be putting them back in this weekend. Depending on shipping. He is usually quick with his turnarounds.
