machine shop

I'm finally tearing down a flathead I bought months and months ago and will soon be looking for a good machine shop. I'm in Grand Forks, ND and have talked to a guy in a shop in town who has worked on flatheads before. He said he can do everything but the machining and installing the hardened valve seats. Has anyone built a motor without those?

That is pretty much a standard thing with old flatheads. I doubt that yours are in good enough shape to not need new ones. There are shops that still do that work but they are far and few. Just keep asking around here on the forum.

Later Man...

Did you try the "flattie forum " here on this site?..
I know of a shop in my area that will do that work, Maryland is a long way from the Dakota"s though...LoL! Feel free to PM me if I can help. I think you will want the new hardened seats for regular gas, but I know very little about the flatheads...I leave that stuff to the experts...Good Luck!

You might give a call to Flathead Jack's to see if they know someone in your area that builds the flathead. Flathead Jack, USA's Hot Rodding Headquarters
