Which cooler are you talking about? Do you have an add-on tranny cooler up front, or a stock ford tranny cooler.

Hey Action ,nice pics,,,,,,,,, couple questions for you were did the block heater come from? is it mounted in the cooler also? And how was it getting the cooler out, looks like a bear of a job with the motor in....... BTW I did a cooler rebuild on a 6.9 (they look the same) but the motor was out of the truck and just wondered if it was doable with motor in truck?

iduger give the cooler tube a good check for rust, mine let loose with a pin hole and was a t an idle for several minutes before I knew there was a leak and the engine pumped out at least 5 quarts of oil before I got it shut off,,,,,

I did lift the motor and inch or so on that side on my 95 but when I did my cooler reseal on the 97 not long ago it came out without lifting. But it took lots of wiggling!

I removed & saved my (fresh) coolant & drained the oil the day before ,,& left the oil drain plug out ,in case any water got in the pan later. I raised the left side of the truck a bit ,to aid draining .I removed the front cooler bolts first with a very long extension through the left front wheel opening,,then the rear after removing the filter ,removed the assembly ,,there was very little mess ...
