06 FX4 Odometer Display Problem

Just like the title says, I am having a slight problem with my digital odometer display. The problem ranges from the numbers not showing up at all to periodically flashing on and off as I am driving. Another problem associated with this is that the door locks lock when I take off from a stop (approx. 2000rpm) when they are already locked. I can go down the street and every time I stop and then start to go something activates the door locks. Any insight to this matter would be appreciated. I might try to take it into ford tomorrow.

me too

I'm having a similar issue with my 2004. The digital odo and ambient temp readout worked periodically for a few months then blanked completely, and the door dinger sounds sporadically when the door is open and the key is in the run position.

Please let us know what the dealer says!!

I'll let you guys know if I find anything also.

I finally was able to take my truck into the dealer today to get the issue looked at. It turns out the whole instrument cluster needs to be replaces. Evidently everything runs through the cluster, even the door locks and the keyless entry. The cluster was ordered today and will be installed tomorrow. The truck is still under its 3 year 36K warranty so it is covered. I did find out that even though my truck only has 28K on it, the warranty is up on January 6th so I need to get it extended.

when was your truck built?

2006 models built after July 2006 have a 5yr/60,000 mile powertrain warranty.

This is the first vehicle I have ever purchased an extended warranty on. I love the truck but, with the problems I have had while under warranty I felt it was a good investment if I am going to keep it.

good luck,
ck
