04 150 new battery = rough idle
Just recently put new battery ina at 70000. Right after my truck started running really rough. when coming to stop rpms would go down then up for a little until it eventually steadied. local mechanic said computer has to relearn idle settings anyone ever hear of this. possible reflash? need help!

mechanic is right
the computer ships outs from the factory "dumb".
you have to drive it a certain distance and a certain number of key on/off cycles. the PCM monitors the driving parameters during this time and then essentially "learns" what is normal and what isn't...all within certain programmed guidlines of course.
it's scary, but normal. after about 1 week though, it should be done doing this. about 1 tank of gas to get it back to normal

That sounds a bit strange. The retraining to the point where it runs smooth shouldn't take very long. Even my old 20yr old BMW retrains itself in about 20 seconds if I left it sitting there for a few days.
I had my battery out for about half-a-day when I wired in power to supply my amps out behind the back seat. It started right back up and I never had any driveability issues like rough idling or anything like that.
I do have a somewhat rough idle though...probably because of other reasons. It's been like that for a long time. It might be time to replace my plugs :-(
