well guys after an exhaustive search it appears ive decided to buy an 03 extended cab 4X4 f150. This is my first four wheel drive ford and my third full size ford truck. Its going to replace my ranger
are there any things i should know about these trucks or any quirks?
im sure there will be issues as they arise so ill be in touch

Door drains rust like crazy, look along the inside bottom of the doors and you will probably see the situation. Be careful replacing plugs - there are tons of threads on here about it. Not really hard to do, but take your time. Watch for the COPS to start missing - you'll know it when it happens - lots of good threads on here about that one too.
Other than that, great truck, loads of room. This is the best vehicle I have ever owned.

I agree that the suspension parts should get at least 100k on them but changing them aren't bad when they do go bad, except the pittman arm that takes a bit of work. right now my truck has around 115k and i've replaced the shocks, inner and outer tie rod ends, pittman arm, idler arm, sway bar end links, and sway bar bushings. they aren't that hard if your into it but if you do ever have to replace it go with moog like a lot of people on here would agree.
during the summer the door ajar might stay on even when the door is on, just simply spray some contact cleaner or wd-40 in the latch and you'll be set.
if you're on a dirt road mud likes to pack on the back of the rear wheels but this might happen to everybody but mine were really bad on my 02'.
those aren't major things but hope they helped ya know? other than that great truck and I would purchase another one.

Also, if changing your oil by yourself be careful with the wrench its metric or something and don't overtighten the plug or you'll crack the threads on the pan and will have problems with the plug then there after, would recommend purchasing a fumoto usa drain valve from quikvalve.com.
also the filter is in a tricky spot and it's hard to get a tool up there so it's best to have a hot engine when changing although that's when it's best anyways.
