HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION IN 4.6 F150.

A friend has a f150 and it has the 4.6 v-8 and
25k miles. And it is using more than 2 quarts per
1000 miles. And his Ford dealer isnt impressed and
doesnt seem concerned. Is anyone else out there ha
ving the same trouble?? And if so--what has their
experiences been with the Ford dealer?? This f150
is a 1997 model.

Haven't heard of that before. If it really is using 1 qt./500mi, somethings wrong. I don't have much good to say about dealers, it doesn't matter what brand they are. Persistance may pay off, but most 97s are out of warranty by now. If its out of war., I would go to the selling dealer, and be a pest. An always courteous, but persistant, pest. Have to convince them that something IS wrong, and that they should do something about it. Your friend needs to be real sure of his facts, also. May need to write a letter to the dealer owner, clear and concise, no threats, if he gets no's from all of the usual's.
