Agreed! The Raptor is great and all, but someone is making a bad choice. The F-100 or a larger Ranger is what's needed with the ability to build a new Bronco to boot.
The 6.2L engine should bleed it's way into the fullsize truck segment anyway. The SD needs a larger gas V-8 and the F-150 needs to be more competetive in terms of HP/TQ.
Is anyone at Ford listening to us?

What good is a Raptor if you don't go 4 wheelin in the desert or mud boggin where you would need a 4x4.
Seems Ford keeps making the same mi9stakes over and over. They come up with a vehicle that is a Hit and pull the plug after a limited run Like they did with the Lightning.
I do not believe Ford will come out with a F100 for any reason because most likely it might outsell the F150. The Big Idiot car makers hasn't learned that people want choices and they still won't give that to the consumers and they still have not figured out they are overpriced.

Yes, 4000-6000 per year. I'm sure they would have stepped up production had the market demanded it. Peak demand was in 2001 with 6,381 units produced.
Plus, the Harley Davidson F150, which was in many ways a 4 door version, I believe production numbers for it were between 7,500 and 10,000 yearly. Its higher level of success is probably why they made them for the next gen truck as well.

I believe the Raptor 6.2L is simply a way to get some "buzz" going about the engine, while bugs are worked out (sadly) until full production runs are ready. Its also a good way to test the waters, to see what 6.2L demand will be before committing more resources.
Or, they may have wanted to get the engine out ASAP but the engines are currently "hand built" until full automation of the process comes online, and a high dollar truck is the only way they can produce a hand assembled engine.
Just my hunches.... the future will prove me right or wrong!

believe it or not but there will not be an f-100 in 2010 or 2020, my father is a ford engineer and the product line has no F-100. I wanted an F-100 just as bad as the rest of you guys but ford dropped all production. There is only the Raptor svt, the super duty which has a design change, and the foriegn truck imported to take the Rangers place.

I wouldn't get the F-100 anyway, I'm getting a SD in late 2010 early 2011, fuel prices permitting of course. With that said, I may end up with a Focus or Fiesta and getting another 5 years out of my '88.
Why don't they bring back the Ranchero?
