Welcome to FTE

There's no info because Ford did not offer the XL package on a F Series truck till 1970.

This so called 1963 "XL" truck was a special project vehicle only.

This "XL" has been discussed here before, FTE member Garbz2 has all the info.

Thanks. I know the XL didnt stand for the same XL that later appeared as a trim package. This truck was called the F-100XL because it had the same 427 in it that some Galaxie XLs had. I have personally seen this truck (I took the pics) and its a pretty neat vehicle.

I saw this truck today and I've known the owner since the 60's.

It's running again and we used to cruise around in it back in the 60's.

Adios, Dirk

I can't make that link work now, it's been a while...

I can't do a search right now, but will try later. It's out there--see the pic in the link above.

Probably the most valuable F100 ever built in today's $$!

Thanks for that pic and update. Good to see he kept it "original" and got it back into the world.

Its all water under the bridge now, but Ford could have marketed a vehicle like this, without the extreme rake of course, but their upper levels of management did'nt believe their was a profitable market for this type of vehicle. Dodge actually did market a version of the CCS (custom sport special) with a 426 to the public around 1964. Now a very collectable valuable pickup. It did'nt have an extreme drag rake like the F 100 XL, but did have some of the same sporty features such as bucket seats. Now if Ford would have put a 427 as a RPO (regular production option) in the new for '65 Ranger, that would have been something!
