no, f250 5.4 is not the same as the lighting. I thought the lighting engine was aluminum block and heads. 5.4L in F150 and sd's are Iron block and Aluminum heads.

Are you talking connecting rods and crankshafts when you say Bottom ends?

What year F250?

Oh, also, 5.4L non-lightings are cast cranks and rods I believe. Lightnings got forged cranks, rods and pistons, I think.

They had to withstand a supercharger and 500hp

1999+ Lightnings had MOD C38 forged steel cranks, low compression forged aluminum pistons, and powder metal forged rods. All had the same iron blocks, heads and cams as the regular 5.4L Tritons. Only aluminum 5.4L Ford has out is in a $100,000+ supercar.

Non-Lightning/Harley Davidson 5.4s had either cast steel or forged steel cranks. It's a complete toss-up so the only way to know for sure about your truck is to look at the crank itself. Most of the 4V Navigator 5.4's have forged cranks...but not all. The cast cranks are plenty tough so it's not a problem either way. They are a bit lighter and unless you plan on pushing 900hp+ with a power adder it's probably the better crank to have. All non supercharged 5.4's have cast hypereutectic pistons and powder metal forged rods. It's said that the Lightning/HD truck's rods had more material in the big end but not enough to really matter.
