need clutch slave help on a 1996 F250
this truck has a 5 speed manual transmission, 2 wheel drive, with the 5.8 CID gas engine (truck belongs to a buddy of mine).
He thinks his clutch slave is going out. Describing it going all the way to the floor to shift, occasionally grinding, etc.
I've searched here all I can and can't really find anything specific to this truck.
Is the slave assembly external or internal to the tranny ? Is this a fairly basic R&R or will we need to drop the tranny to do this ???
Any help is appreciated ...

This might help:

Looks like it's a "concentric" setup - which means pulling the tranny to replace.
If it's going to the floor, it might not be the slave, but the master cylinder. Just like when the brakes start to act funny and sometimes goes to the floor, the master is bad.
I'd bleed it first. Usually, if the slave is truly bad, it's either leaking, or sucking air into the system. If a bleed helps it, it's PROBABLY the slave. If it doesn't help, it's probably the master.
