53-56 front fender repair

i have a got a straight front 53-56 fender that has rust over the headlight. can this be fixed nicely ? i have not found any replacement panels for this common problem.looks like i need a pro on this. any tips, i would prefer not to replace the fender with the aftermarket stuff .i did replace the right with nos but can not find one for the left.i would like to find someone who could recreate this correctly or find another nos. what is your thoughts on this common rust problem?

without seeing a picture can't tell how hard it would be. most anything can be repaired if you have the basic tools. did all my fenders without pre made patch panels

You will need an old fender with the correct good metal area and cut it out and mig it in. I did this many times and before mig welding came out--used brazing the panels. YOU can expect to have near as much time and money involved as buying a nicer fender.
I have some fenders available for56 f100-f600s --but you should be able to locate some closer to home.....Bill

jm ray, Walford and glockoperator: Please go to "User CP" at the top of the forum page, click on "Personal Profile", then scroll to the bottom and add into the field "Where do you live". Your location will print on each post like Grumpy46. This will help every body help you.

Steve Jensen (ssj7kids) did an excellent job on both front and rear fender repair. His gallery: https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...&albumid=35343

From another point of view, here's what my driver's front fender looked like in mid-repair. I tried to hammer/dolly the dents out, but couldn't get the dolly up in there. I chose to cut out the badly dented part over the headlight, hammer it back into shape, then weld it back into the fender. It flattened and stretched from the hammering, so I needed "darts" in it to shape it on the fender. The cardboard template is from the passenger fender to guide me in the process.

It was an ugly long process that I don't necessarily recommend, but the end result worked out great. It is testimony that there are many ways (including bad ones) to get the end result you want.

Good luck.
