Brake Pads

I'm tired of the brake dust. I also have a rotor on the front driver sides that is chewed up some. Truck has 69K miles on it.

What kind of pads can I walk into my local Napa or auto parts store and buy that are better ceramic brake pads? I will probably only change the front pads as the rears do not seem to be as bad.

Anyone know how much a new rotor should be? OR why mine is already chewed up after 69K miles?

Is it my understanding from researching some, that the front brakes have the rotor and hub as one unit? So to replace a chewed up rotor, I must replace the hub and rotor as one? How do I know which one is needed for my truck?

Also, noone can chime in with some better pads? I see napa sells some "ceramix" brand that runs about $90 for the pads. Surely some of you guys have put better pads on to get rid of the nasty brake dust problem!

Putting ceramic pads on your truck will decrease brake dust, but ceramic retains heat longer than semi metallic pads, which may cause a rotor warping problem. Especially if you haul, tow, or drive in mountainous or hilly areas. If you rotor is chewed up, than you need a rotor. If the rotor is only sold as one unit with the hub than you must replace both whether the hub needs replacing or not.

well if your truck is 4wd its only a rotor and 2wd have a hub and bearing on the spindle with a large nut that holds it on
if you have on bad rotor you should replace them in pairs

now for brake bads their is alot of ways to go like hawk ebc bendix power stop make good dust free pads

now i got slotted rotor and ebc green stuff pads and i really like them way better then stock and no dust
