I own Two Ford F150's My main everyday truck is a 1994 F150xl. Now my Other "project" truck is a 1990 F150 XLT Lariat EXt cab 4x4. My question is this.
I want to Change my front Clip from my 94 and put it on my 1990. and vise versa. If that makes sence. How hard is it to do? I know already i have to remove abunch of electrical or unhook it from the wheel wells. Do i need to change my Rad supports or just the assembly that holds the lights/grills?
Without a doubt what you propose is a LOT of work, you have to completely strip the whole front end of both trucks. None of the parts are particularly heavy or awkward besides the bumper and hood, so besides having to remove a bucket full of bolts on each truck it's not hard work.
Yes rad support has to change as well, and the bumpers also use different mounting brackets.
NO, the raidiator support does not need to be changed. I have done this swap and will again soon. It's rather easy I thought, just all of the outside sheetmetal. hood, fenders, coul, grill, headlights, under grill peice, and the bumper is a little differant. But there is nothing structural that needs to be messed with except the battery tray. Keep the same raidiator and support, the hood hinges are the same and all the holes line up. The hardest part of it I thought was that the headlight plugs are differant, so you need to find new plugs.
I did it for a customer after she recked her 90 bronco (she's a drunk but fun). And will be doing it to the 87 I just bought as soon as I feel like painting it this spring.
