whats RHN?
and i was quite impressed with my 10 horse montgomery wards mower. it beat pushing broke down trucks into the shop...... i got so disgusted with the dealer for not having a power pusher that i drove home, loaded the mower up, came back, unloaded it and drug it in the shop...... from there it just stuck....lol
and do we have a date set for the repair mission yet?lol

RHN (Roadside Help Network) go here:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...o-contest.html
Read the first post. Several of us OBS's are there also. You would be an asset to the place for sure. It is basically what 7point3 used to be. You can contact someone if you need help or if you are just cruising thru town and wanna say Hi.
You have to agree to keep the list of members private though for obvious reasons.

you should not use wd-40, it attracts dirt and is not a good lubricant in anyway, a lithium or silicone is much better the wd-40, but lucas red-n-tacky works much better, a little goes a long way. no need to pack it, but oils will definitly be inadequate in the lubricating department. a little frictional spinning will not hurt a thing, they will do that anyways. even the 10k+ axle assemblies that i have installed in some of our buggies will do that. the grease is a much better lube.
why would you not grease the lock-outs? if they are not slugs, you should have a liberal amount of grease in the front lock-out assemblies. just like any other 4x4. i grease the slugs, just to keep them lubbed for easier assembly and disassembly ( keeps the rust out should moisture get in). but what do i know, i only build buggies and trail rigs for a living.

i still guess IDM.
From your vast experience with a 7.3.....
all this trash talk about gmc...i have owned gmc's all my life and never had a single problem. i bought a '97 PSD, and i have not gotten away from the dealer for more then a week. spent more money on it in the month i have owned it on repairs then any of those old chevy's and gmc's.
B.T.W ,,we fix them ourselves ......
