65 F100 Suspension Bushing Help

I am no mechanic and need some help with replacing the bushings for the rear suspension.

I want to replace the spring eye bushings and shackle bushings on the rear springs. How do I get these out of the springs and spring shackle? I have tried beating them out with no luck.

I am thinking I need to go to a machine shop and have them pressed out. Is this how the new ones will go in?

you can remove the old bushings with a torch if you have one,

After you remove them from the truck!!Doh! Will you be replacing them with rubber ones, or polyurethane ones. just asking....... Press the new ones in with a little lubricant Could almost do that with a Big vice, but better to have a shop do it for you.

A torch is good. You just set them on fire, wait about 10-15min and just push them out. If you want a good description of hou to do it without a torch and with the springs still in place go to the `87-`96 Fseries page and search for a post by frederic. However if you have the springs out and on the floor I would get the bushes pressed out and the new ones pressed in at the same time. Good luck with it.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to take them to a machine shop.

As far as the bushings, I have not decided. Which is better?
