You should have a better idea than anyone as to what'll fit. That would be a great job if you could have access to stuff like test fitting engines into pickups
Last I called, a 6.6 was $1500 for a good runner, which is 1000 less than an equally equipped 6BT. The issue with the Ford would be to get the linkage to the other side. You will also possibly get an air compressor with the Ford. There's always a way, and too many options and ideas to put in a post. Last note, if you look for performance stuff, and check on pulloff.com , they often show tractor pulling stuff. Mostly listed as Ford 401. The 93's had a bosch P-pump, hint-hint.

Me too! There's a guy on another forum that's doing a DT360 into a 90's F250.
I had started a DT466 swap in a Sooper Dooty a couple years ago. It still hurts, having to sell it off. If you cant tell by the link in my sig, I like the med duty truck engines. The secret to power is in the pump.

That'll be a whole new thread for you to start. Dont be surprised at nay sayers with the "just put a Cummins in it". The 360 is far more superior, it just lacks the aftermarket availability. It's more of a do-it-yourself power package. But, back to the 6.6(to keep on topic).

I found a 6.6 for $500, but it doesnt say if there's anything wrong with it. The bonus, is that it was aftercooled(CAC/ intercooled).

What's funny, is this thread still gets lots of hits per month. Time to bring it back from the 2 year old death. I actually bought the engine from Acme in the link above, and that's what I'll be slipping in my 67 F100.....someday. Wonder if the original poster would want to trade my manual setup for his Allison setup?

I wonder if could adapt the ford motor 6.6 in the pickup?

is a very good engine, lasts longer than the rest of the truck!

even if the power menas 6.6 has a 7.8 use the 6.6 he has more RPM!

alias such an engine in a ford pickup nme need more power!

how many horsepower would it?

My 6.6 engine was original aspired ,after was turbo , instaled
engine connecting rod of the turbo and pump injection with advance ,

after new injection pump he reaches 3500 rpm, before only reaches 3100-3200 rpm

It have 188 HP @ 2400rpm but can reach 190 195 hp with instaling intercoller and more diesel dosege !

here have 7.8 with 285 hp @ 2300 rpm

seeing in google have much ford diesel engines for buy in USA , and very truck that equiped with it ! but very short differential ratio, reaching low speed!

There are many variables in guessing what power an engine might make. The second picture looks like a really large turbo, and possibly could be in the 500 to 700hp range.

I saw the numbers on the top one, it's an S400, which would be the bigger turbo in a compound set for the street.

Yes, with some work.

I just aquired a low hour 6.6, and am going to do the swap this summer. You will have to mount an electric fan to the radiator, and mess with your engine mounts. I took some measurements, and it will be a bit tight in the front, but it is definitely possible. I am going to make my own engine mounts, and make an adapter plate to allow it to March up to a 7F5 tranny if I can find a flywheel to fit. The 6.6 is not intercooled so I don't have to mess with that. The engine I have is also dressed with a self priming injection pump. This will allow me to simply modify the fuel pumps rather than needing a whole new system. I will update as I go along.
