DIN adapter

OK...SO I am getting very close to tear up the interior of my truck.

I have new door panels, carpet, armrests, dash pad cover, stereo (and accessories), speakers, new 2008 Ford Truck Console and a plethora of parts.

The one thing that gives me pause is my DIN conversion to convert the two hole stock stereo to the new DIN stereo. I bought one of those multi fit adapters at Walmart (Save Money, Live Better)....I test fit it...and it seems like I am going to have to cut out a chunk of the center bezel to have the adapter fit...but other pics I have seen of the DIN units seem like a smoother install.

Is there a better way or do I get my new rotozip out and cut it out?

Hate to ruin my bezel.

yeh you will have to cut your center bezel to get a modern radio to fit. I did it look in my gallery. its not very hard. and if you do it right and dont do a hack job on it, it will look good.

this is before (kinda hard to see the old radio.)

This is after i did some cutting and got my new radio in>

So essentially the adapter sits right behind the bezel (as in you cannot see it) and the radio sticks through?

yeh thats basically exactly it. thats basically all that you need to do. just make sure the bezel will go back into place smoothly after the adapter is in.

If you want, I could hook you up with a DIN bezel. Which one do you want?

Here is my current bezel and the adapter. Seems like I will have to cut a hole as big as the adapter for the bezel to sit flush.

I have a Panasonic CQ-C7103U with XM radio and Ipod connections.

The head unit is a regular single DIN unit.

Ipod and junction box will be in the bottom of my console.

Maybe there is a better dapter out there...I would have expected it to be a bit more recessed.

Could one simply cut the bezel and use the metal surround that comes with the stereo and locks in place...then the stereo would lide in it...it being now the hole in the bezel. I think what would be smoother.

I think I may like the smaller routine...using the metal surround that came with the stereo and cutting the bezel to that size...heck if I screw that up I can always go larger.

i would wait and get a regular din sized radio bezel, no matter what you do with the one you got its still gonna look like ***t. I believe that even with the regular din piece it will still need a tiny bit of cutting. The one i found for my truck had been cut wrong and need to have a ring of plastic added (see gallery)

how much for a din bezel shipped to CA?

my truck came with no bezel at all, and I have a panasonic cd player sitting in the garage ready to go in.
