Anyone sound deadened there truck?

Have any of you done any sound deadening on the inside/outside of your trucks, floors, firewall, roof, doors ect??? Im trying to quite down the interior of my truck from this noisy monster under the hood, Ive layed some dynamat on my front floorboards and a couple extra pieces on the firewall on the inside, helped a little bit. I did my doors which did make the stereo sound MUCH better. Im starting to wonder how good the stock insulation works that ford uses. Maybe I just need to insulate my valve cover over that #8 injector..

Good question Aaron. I would also be very interested in the answer to this as well. I just drove my boss's truck which is a 2002 Lariat and it is much quieter than my 2000 Lariat. One thing that I am thinking about doing is pulling the carpet up and putting an extra layer of padding down.

Powdercoating the valve covers helped reduce some of the "friction" noise from the valves, etc, but those injectors are so loud, theres not much thats gonna quiet those down.

I did the sound deadening when i did my audio install, minus the doors. Really gotta get around to that!

Heres the entire album..

yup I sure did .. I went with a company out of Canada with a product called B-Quiet .. basically the same as dynamat but a LOT cheaper.

I did double layered of the regular type matting on the floor, back wall, and door panels. I did a single layer with the ultra thick (3/8" thick) foam type deadener on the inner firewall down to the floorboard. I also replaced the carpet with a nice ultra plush from Auto Carpet Experts for Car, Truck, Van, Automotive Carpets | Stock Interiors

I'll tell you this is a FULL day's work !!!.. and when your done your hands and fingers will KILL you .. just a lot of pushing and rolling to get it all into place. It's VERY easy to do and no real "sizing" is needed - just cut chunks as you go. I THINK all totaled the deadening material was about $200.00.

It made a definite difference in quieting the interior down - hope this helps !

I have done mine as well. I think the biggest improvement to overall road noise came from doing the roof. You used to be able to pick up the B-Quiet stuff on ebay for a pretty decent price. Don't know if you still can or not.

Cool thanks guys! By the way, I noticed the other day that I could see a bit of light through the firewall where the steering column goes through, I wonder if theres anything you could do there..?

Nope. I used Raammat on my 02 and my wife's 01. I also used some closed cell foam on top of it, and while it does quit things down inside the cab, tire drone still makes it's way through.

Sorry.

I cant seem to find the part numbers but there are some sound panels that go in excursions that cover up the bottom section of the dash. I haven't put them on mine so I don't know how much of a difference they make. But would imagine they would have to have some affect.

Im gonna have to look into that, Ive never noticed that on excursions.

It seems like most of the noise comes from the driver side firewall/floor area. So some kind of panel there could definatly help!

Let us know what you find. My wife's 01 250 4wd has more tire noise coming from the front passenger tire, but it's only noticeable from the driver seat. Passenger seat sounds OK. I was thinking more along the lines of something in the middle might be what she needs.
