clutch issues...

It hasnt been very long since i replaced the master cylinder as in less than 3 months....

Now i am having a problem with the clutch again....

It seems as if the clutch bleeds down.... If i hold it down at a stop light or something then it will bleed down, and when i let off it engages immediatly, but the pedal stays about 1" off the floor.

When im stopped and the truck is running if i push the clutch pedal down slowly i can feel it bleed off, and then it very quickly drops to the floor with out my foot pushing it down......

can some one explain this to me, the clutch fluid is full... Is there air in the line or something, i bled the crap out of it when i replaced the slave cylinder....

That sound exact problem I have 89 F150.

It hard to push clutch or it easy push? My clutch pedal would be so hard push and need push full way to get clutch disengage and sometime it won't engage so try 2 or 3 times push clutch pedal then finally it engage.

did you replace the master cyl, the slave cyl, or both? If you didn't replace the slave cyl (inside the bellhousing) it probably is (was) your problem (leaking). If you replace it, you'll save yourself some future work if you go ahead and replace the clutch kit (and maybe the flywheel) along with the rear main seal and front trans seal. Some extra bucks, but you probably never have to open it up again. I think I got both cylinders and everything I mentioned through Rock Auto for around 300 bucks.

Just realized how old the original post was.

Yup i just replaced the slave and did the clutch kit too....

I havent touched the master though....

Should i try to re bleed it?

Or could there be something else?

The pedal feels normal, but if i push it in real slow, it gets very soft then goes to the floor on its own...

Guess I haven't been on here awhile... Saw your join date and thought it was your post date

Anyway, bleed the whole thing? Not quite sure how to reach the slave to bleed it (had a shop do mine). I have read that you can park the vehicle facing uphill and take off the MC cap and it will bleed itself. True or false, I couldn't tell you though. Need to get all the air out of the system though.

sounds like a bad master cyl to me. If thr slave was leaking youd be losing fluid. The master can leak down and the fluid goes back into the reservoir

there is a bleeder valve on the slave cylinder on the drivers side of the transmission that is where i bled it from initially....

I will try that again and see what happens if not i guess it could be the master.....
