Unhappy 460 question

Hi Guys I have a 1974 f100 with original 460 that has been gone through.
the question i have is what is the total advance 20deg btdc?
my setup is as follows stock bottom and heads Eldibrock preformer plus cam with stock timing chain.
stock manifolds 2&1/2 exhaust with procomp non vacume advance distributor.it has new stock motorcraft carb.
the issue i have is it dosent smooth out til around 3000 rpms it also backfires ? any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have my 466 set at 9* BTDC w/o the vaccum advance hooked up.

Question Thanks but i was looking for total mecnanical advance

Thank you for the base advance BTDC at idle I'm looking for total mechanical advance at 3000 rpms.

It should be around 10* BTDC at idle, and depending on your cam, and ignition, it should be at around 34* of total advance, give or take a few degrees.
