8 lug d44

I am about to get a d44 front 8 lug and d60 rear. Only think I know is they are out of an old ford. What years came with these and will anything from a 88 dana 50 ttb swap onto them?

Thats kinda apples and oranges. There isnt much (if anything) thats interchangeable. The D60 rear and D44 solid front (with disc brakes) came from 76-79. Before that they were drum brake fronts. 77 and earlier were low pinion, 77.5-79 were high pinion.

Ok figures nothing from the 50ttb will swap in but doesnt hurt to check.

It looks like its the high pinion, and does have front disk brakes. It has coil buckets is that something someone else put on or was that stock? Will it be hard to change to leafs?

heres a picture of the front http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=Pq1em0_S

Yeah you can kinda see the coil spring mounts in the picture though the axle is upside down. Its a 19 spline axle shaft with 4.10 gears.

Whoa....thats interesting. Well 8 lug coil type axles arent factory. And it shouldnt be a 19 spline axle so who knows what you got goin on there.

hmm this is interesting then. Well do you think its worth the effort to swap to leaf spring and swap out my ttb d50 with.

im getting it and a 60 rear for only 350. I want to get rid of the TTB front in my f250 and get rid of my current 3.08 gear ratio. Its just a mud/trail truck only going with 35s or 37s.

Hmm I dont know what to think about that front axle. I think you would be better off finding a newer solid leaf spring axle that matches your spring locations. Maybe get the rear end for 50-100. Check it out really good for leaks and if the brakes are decent.

That looks like a 78-79 Bronco axle with 8 lug outers bolted up to it. The stub shafts were 19 spline, however (IRC) the inner shafts should have more splines, however I am suffering from a brain fart and cannot quote what the spline count should be.. If you are wanting to swap a 79 and older onto an 80 and newer F250, you are in for a world of hard knock learning. The wedges for the radius arms (78-79) are cast into the housing, which makes that axle a poor choice for a solid axle swap with leafs. Yes its usable, however you have to re-tube that side UNLESS you convert your truck to coil springs.. Earlier versions had the wedges welded in place. IRC, the axle is too narrow to use as is, so plan on re-tubing, or converting to coils.
