Cab swap 74 2 wheel on 76 HB steeering shaft?/MI

Just Put a 74 2wheel drive cab on my 76 high boy plow truck would like to use 74 column but has a differant shaft set up which is also to short, other than taking the two and fabricating them into one that will work splicing tig welding etc. is there any other options I saved the column from the 76 cab even though it was in pretty rough shape I really dont want to use it the 74 was a mint condition cab very well taken care of. The 76 had the small telescoping end on the steering box and it's also the Bendix type setup with the 4 hose system also the 74 has the disc by the fire wall and the 76 had the u-joint any help would be appreciated. Thanks Skull1957
