truck is taking forever to start......sometimes....

i know this it kinda weird, but my 99 f-150's 5.4 liter seems to have grown itself a carb. lol

i say that because its lately its been taking forever to start, but it only happens sometimes, mainly, when its cold. but it even does it sometimes when its been running for awhile.

i'm confused because it doesn't seem to do it all the time, sometimes it just starts right up. so i'm like what the crap!

anyways, a little help would be greatly appreciated!

thanks everybody!

I would check your IAC ( Idle Air Control) Its is a known problem to stick. Some say you can clean them and out them back on and they will be fine, but I just get a new one. The peice is located right beside the throttle body. Do a search here, there is lots of info on this proble

Hope this helps

I would also check your battery and charging system.

IAC most likely it is. Using heavy throttle while starting may get you going but the IAC needs some TLC.

I think they're around $100 at the dealer, less online at one of our sponsors. I don't think the parts store brands last as long.
