Cigarette lighter no power, fuse good...

I have a 2005 Excursion, and the after replacing a blown fuse for the cigarette lighter, I still do not have power there.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Which one? There's 5, and I believe a fuse for each. I know at least they're not all on the same fuse.

Have you had the dash a part recently? Is it possible that the plug wasn't reinstalled?

I agree, make sure theres not another fuse blown for the lighter, theres more then one.

Its possible the wire going to the back of the socket came loose somehow, but with a blown fuse its more likely you burned up a wire/connection somewhere before the fuse was able to save it. Do you know how the fuse was blown? Too much load, or a dead short? If your not sure how it went bad and you dont use it often its possible the wire came off the back and may have grounded out blowing the fuse when you hit a bump while driving. First thing I suggest is trying to get to the back of it and testing for power at teh wires before the plug.

Which one are you not getting power to?

I believe there is a fuse under the dash and one under the hood in the power distribution box

Did you blow the fuse again after you replaced it? Did you check it after you replaced it and found it was still bad? Also, there are 4 fuses.

Fuse #2 20A* Power point - floor console
Fuse #3 20A* Power point – 3rd row
Fuse #4 20A* Power point - I/P
Fuse #5 20A* Power point - right rear quarter

Check your fuse panel under the dash for these fuse locations.

Thanks for the replys.

I had replaced the #3 fuse, which is for the 3rd row arm rest
power-point thinking it was the Cig. lighter fuse.

The cig fuse(#12) is next to #3. I went by memory on the Cig fuse
location, and was wrong. The fact that the 3rd row fuse was blown
was just a coincidence, and caused me to stop looking.

They were both blown.

My kids no doubt stuck something into the third row outlet sometime
in the past, blowing that fuse.

Now it's all good.

thanks again.
