If you do, are you getting any wear on the steering wheel near the volume control, just outside the plastic control panel? The rubber material the steering wheel is made of looks like it is painted with a coating, that in my case is starting to wear thin. Not bad, but with only 11K miles, I don't see it getting any better.

ford uses some cheap as pleather for these steering wheels, they always look like crap after a year or so. You might be able to take it to the dealer and show them and you might be able to get a new one, considering it is a factory flaw and your truck only has 11K miles on it. Definately try getting the dealership to get it replaced.

Hard to tell from the pix. It's not bad now, but I baby this thing. It's like small flakes of the colored rubber/plastic/pleather are coming off.

It prolly is just painted plastic.

Auto companies been doing it for years.

I worked in a dealership back in the 1980's and we were painting plastic interior parts back then to match colors, so don't be too offended that they are doing it today.

Either get it warrenteed or go buy a can of paint.

Whats strange is that portion of the steering wheel seems to be molded rubber. When I pop off the volume controls, you can tell it's one sold chunk, that looks to be tan all the way through. Strange.

paint wear

I just looked at my 07 Expy EL. Bought at 15.5K now 16K---garage queen. My wheel cover looks smoother, dosnt have the "grain" look, like your pic. Dont see any evidence of tan color wearing off. Until I break the old habit of going to the radio controls I shouldnt get much wear at the wheel. Your pic may be a good incentive not to! In fact, after a quick look-around, I dont see any noticable wear spots.

Got a slight gouge in the paint down on the jam floor, but I bought a $10.00 FoMoCo touch up bottle which will prob not match

I was just prowling around this AM and opened the fuel pump reset button at the L. rear door jam. Please tell me that I didnt see a fuel pump w/a feed line attached that, no doubt, goes all the way to the engine . Maybe the line is under the carriage, not in the pass compartment. After all the safety stuff (air bags, antilock etc.) now we go backwards to fuel in the passenger compartment-----one word if thats so-----STOOPID!! On top of that brilliance, its right at the very rear, which would most certainly get busted in a rear ender. I know the fuel pump is supposed to stop on an impact, but what about the fuel in the line there? Guess I am on a rant about that, but thats scary to me.
