Fabman54, could you give a little more detail on the measurements you require? Length, width, or all the above. My 46 frame is still exposed so I could go out and tape measure any place you want. Also welcome to the forum. I'm an old guy too.

A detailed drawing like the one for the 40-41 frame you linked in your response is not to be found that I know of (believe me I have looked for a long time) however here is one I found with out dimensions.
http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/F...942-46comm.jpg . I measured my frame and the width in the rear is 34" outside and 32" in the front. The frame goes in 1" on each side in front of the cab mounting tab.

Thanks for the dimensions My frame rails have so many holes, I want to weld them up.I really don't want to have to re-drill any holes. Would it be possible for you to take some pictures, then e-mail then to me?

Thanks

fabman54, I would be glad to except I don't have a digital camera, however my daughter has one but I won't see her until Thanksgiving if you can wait. Maybe AJ46 can help. My frame has already been modified with an MII IFS and new rear springs with 9". Are you talking about rust through holes? If so, you might want to consider finding another frame. There are some out there for sale for not too much $. Rust through is pretty common under and behind the rear shock brackets.

Frame Dimensions

loholland,
that will be just fine. Too many drill holes frome previous owners. I want my Frame void of any unnecessary holes.
I too will be using A mustang II in front. Although I I haven't decided
how I will suspend the 9" out back.

AJ46
How's it going? I need as many Dimensions as I can get. My Frame is
in two pices. I also will be boxing in the Frame.

Thanks

Too bad you are local to me, I have my truck off and am sandblasting right now. I did some measuring and got a few picts. My sandblasting tent is fairly small so the picts are not the best -- its a start though. Let me know if you want more specifics. I cannot verify all of the frame holes, my frame was modified during its history also.

Sorry, the picts of the frame are upside down, I blasted the top side already. I did plug the passenger side master cylinder hole, the PO had cut it open more with a torch so I cleaned it up and filled it in for now. The rear most running board bracket is missing on both sides and the forward, rear spring hanger is off (again PO thing and long story).Ask away, I will see if I can get you answers.

That look like a good start to a frame job. Also I found some good frame pics on the net with part break down. Its a ford site, Its under ( The Ford Flathead V8 Site) Also has good pics and part break downs of other components and electrical diagrams.

Chaosracing is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
I dont know if anyone ran into this, but I was told by someone that I should get a modern frame for my 47 1 ton if I am going to put a 351M/400 into it. Now I plan on putting a MII front end on it a 9" out back and then box the frame also. I would think that with it being 1 ton and boxing the frame that is should be plenty strong.
