tonneau cover blues

Hi, I have just fully restored a 1969 F250 390 styleside longbed Truck and
I wish to put a tonneau on it. No one seems to be able to tell me if my 1969 is the same box size as a 1973 which "Truxedo" have listed tonneau covers for.
Can any one tell me the box size of a 1973 longbed F series.

My 1969 box size are:
L - 96 7/8"
W - (at cab) 64 7/8"
W - ( at tailgate) 65 1/16"

Thanks - Peter - fgtcars

I have the truxedo on my '79. I'm pretty sure it will fit your truck. It sits about one inch above the bed,so you may want to put a nice set of rails on the bed to offset this. I think it will fit because the tailgates interchange between the '79 and '69, therefore the bed should be the same width. The cover clamps to the inside the bed rails and allows for adjustments on all for sides.

fgtcars, a tonneau for a 1992-1996 Ford F-150 Longbed will fit our trucks exactly. I have one on my truck for a few months now. By the way....mine is Extang.

Hi, thanks for info. So the '92 to '96 trucks have the same box size as early '67-'72 trucks ? ( 97" x 65" ) I will have to find one and get my tape measure out !!

Thanks again, 77 Bronco !
I have done some more research and finally found out from a truck parts dealer ( some-one who knows their trucks and not just an order-taker ) what the deal is with 73 onwards trucks. Apparently, the earlier trucks, up to '73 the beds narrow at the cab by about 3/16 ". No one knows 100% why, but from info gathered, when they re-did the tooling for the slightly different external box shape from 1973, the assembly gigs were corrected and from then onwards the box top dimentions were exactly square. 97" x 95". The 8' box length has always been closer to 8'1". The tonneau manufacturers don't list the earlier cars because they do not want any problems with customers who can't cope with the little bit of adjustment required. I have gone with the Extang Black Max tonneau. An ebay dealer did it at $200 shipped. It is one of their cheaper models, but the bows can be adjusted and the snaps as well which will compensate for any difference in bed size. Although the Truxedo Velcro fit would have been nice, the snap style should better suit an older style of truck as well as over half the price. The truck is fully restored and no longer a full time working truck.
Thanks again, cheers - Peter

Gallery Pics of my truck.

Hi 77 Bronco ! Just posted some gallery pics of my F250. The car was a bit dusty from storage, but will take some new ones when the Tonneau is fitted.

Hi Guy's ! Just fitted my tonneau cover ! Bought an Extang Blackmax, although a cheaper one, looks fine and fitted perfect. I have added some pics with tonneau to my Gallery . After 3 months of nobody able to help me and dealing with clueless order takers, finally joined FTE and solved the problem ! Basically all trucks 67 to 89 are identical in bed dimensions.

Thanks all for your help.

Thanks for the comment. Truck is like new, top to bottom, all original with mostly NOS parts except the built '67 Mustang GTA HiPo 390 ( I think we are forgiven ). We have never added up how much money and time has been spent on this truck.....and never will....... scary stuff ! We just enjoy watching the gas guage gently drop every time we take her out.
