Yeah, I was a Staff Sargent still on active duty, with two Nam tours at the time. The plate always honked off the brass. What can I say, I was always a rebel.

If it won't run and live, then you might as well say you can't do it. Because if you do doing that kind of bore job, you are either don't have brains enough to build engines or you have way more money than smarts. Either way your advise stinks.

Wink still amazing

Bear, your poor comprehension still amazes me. specifically, what portion of ' some of those boring bar happy campers will have an engine that overheats or runs warm. They might even split a cylinderwall.' That sounded like a caution to me. Our man's question was, 'can it be done ?'. To say 'you can't do it' is either a lack of knowledge or just plain a lie. A better answer would be that, yes, you can, but should you ? And isn't that more or less what I said a few posts ago ? Didn't you ever wonder why so many '428' and '406' blocks had a bushing in the dizzy bore ? And what was that extra plug for anyway........? I'm thinkin', Bear, you're at least as old as me- and my memory ain't worth a s--- anymore. Has yours already faded worse than mine ? DinosaurFan

If the procedure causes a non-functioning engine, then it isn't something you can do and to tell some newbie that all FEs can be bored to 4.13" is an out and out lie. How's that for comprehension?

Question 428 Cobra Jet heads found ?

Hello, 393Stroker w/some good news here. Got the truck that the tree toco`d to the house today. It took two hours to get it on the trailer. Any way the engine code is C6ME-A that is a 360 truck block that my buddy said was bored out to 4.13, and the guy that bored it said that "it sounded like there was enough cylinder wall", he said he drove it for a time with no issues. It`s got the 428 crank with Cobra Jet rods w/big bolts. The head code reads C8OE on one side of the center head bolt , and N0808 on the other side of the bolt . The have bolts/plugs on the top of each exhaust port. Are these the C8OE-N 428 Cobra jet heads?
