Well I'm sitting here bored again (like usual) and got to thinking.....what does everyone have for an arsenal and what do you hunt? I've hunted upland game since I started hunting at 14. Saturday I'm going down to my uncle's in Gibbon to shoot my first deer. My collection is only this so far (I'm just 19): Winchester 1200 12 gauge, and a Mossberg 22LR 46B (made back around WWII). I'm thinking when I get the money I might add the Marlin .30-30 lever that I'm gonna shoot my deer with.
What about you?
-Jake

well Jake.. i am into guns/hunting and have a few.. and most know (by reading the BS forum on Monday) that i just bought a new Remington 700 SPS in camo/.270 caliber. I also have a Interarms .30-06, Remington 870 12 guage, New England 20 guage single-shot, Marlin .22 long rifle, and some other various guns that Obama wants to ban and wish not to list. I do have another .22 long rilfe but can't remember even what brand it is, haven't used it in 15 years. I'm looking to purchase a new handgun and just got my Nebraska Handgun Certificate (via the county Sheriffs office) I would also like to get a Marlin 30-30 as they can shoot the .35 caliber remingtons. looking at a Ruger single action .40 revolver as well. to complete the "Cowboy" theme. haha.

Why buy a modern lever action rifle when you can own the real thing, the first .35 Remington.
Remington Model 8 semi-auto recoil operated rifle, designed by John M. Browning.
If it was good enough for ex Texas Ranger Frank Hamer, who used a Model 8 on Bonnie & Clyde, it should be good enuff for anyone, that is if you don't mind the horrific recoil.
It looks like a Marlin, but it isn't a Marlin. The Stevens Model 425 was the first lever action rifle chambered in .35 Rem.

Well, let's see. A Ruger .243 and .270. A lever action 22-250. Remington 12 gauge pump, Beretta 9mm, and a browning .380. I'm hoping to get out here soon and get some bird hunting (pheasant) done. Haven't done any big game since I moved back to Nebraska in 1981. Not a big deer fan. Love Elk, though!
I got a model 12 20 gauge that my grandpa gave me and a 870 remington 20 gauge. I had a .22 and a 30-6 until my dad wanted them back. I planned on "borrowing" them for a VERY long time, but he knows me better than that and took em back. O well, Im looking at a short barrel 12 gauge pump camo, maybe I can talk my wife into an "early" x-mas present.

I own a 9 mm pistol, Spanish made, A Yugoslavian SKS that I love to shoot, and my boy has a .22. My 9 mm is ok, I am not a very good shot with pistols but am improving. The Nebraska prison system uses Mini-14's for patrol, I personally loove that rifle. First time I really shot one was when we practiced for qualification. Nebraska Department of Corrections taught me how to shoot a rifle good, you would be surprised how well some of those techniques work.

Oh, I'm looking to get a mini-14, for varmit hunting. My neighbor goes prairie dog hunting every year, so I'm looking to do that sometime.
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe a bolt action of some type would be FAR more accurate than a Mini-14. To me all semi-auto's are "spray and pray". For varmits I'd rather have a bolt action.
Although Mini-14's, SKS's, and the like are fun to mess around with and can be heavily customized.

Yea, if I had extra money laying around and found one at a good price it just might come home with me. However, neither of these will happen for awhile.....

I killed my first deer EVER this weekend. Would be a 4 by 4 but he had been fighting earlier this year apparently and part of the rack on the right side broke off. None the less, I was happy. Took him at about 40 yards with a .30/30....dropped where he stood.
