97 f15o 4.2

Is there any other 4.2 that will bolt up to the trans in my truck?
Is there any other engines that will bolt up?

That I do not know.

I think 97 model year could have either the E4OD or the 4R100.
You should check your door sticker to get the transmission code, or get your VIN and use the decoder (Look under "Articles/Specs" up top in the banner)to tell you which transmission you have.

That said, I am not sure if either, or both, will accept the 5.0 as a bolt-up.

You might ask in the Transmission forum here at FTE to see if someone there knows.
