Upgrading the Radio and Speakers

Finally have decided to get rid of the stock AM-Fm Cassette player and put in a CD and some better speakers, undecided as to having Best Buy do it or to try myself, how hard is to do the in dash unit and the speakers??

yea give it a shot. worked for me but they were ford guys. they had 2 old mustangs. but just to be safe if that dont work you might wanna get it done there anyways. it aint expensive but i know of people that have had there vehicles burn down becaus they accidently wired somethin wrong. at least professionals will be able to do it

Not to take anything away from what Jethro said but it really isnt that hard to do. Best buy and wall mart and other places sell conectors that will hook up to the fartoy harness and are color coded. If you did all the mods in your sig then you should have no problem at all hooking up a cd player. Oh and FYI dont skimp on teh CD player. A cheap one will make really good speakers sound like crap.

Ya a friend of mine had tha happen to him too, well not as bad just some smoke but it was his fault on not insulating a power wire. I have a Kenwood in my truck and love it. I had sony and dual and didnt like either. Dual is really bad do not buy one of them. Pioneer is pretty good I think and it isnt that high priced. I bought my kenwood from E-bay Cant remeber the model number but it has the USB input and all the Pre-amps for subs and what not as well as adjustments for bass and all. I also have Alpine type R in the doors and the back. I put 6x9s in the doors and they are great. The backs are 5x7?? you cant put anything bigger in there with out a lot of work. I even had to space the alpines out some to get the magnet to clear. Here shortly when I have some extra cash I will be putting 2 10s in it and my buddy is goin to make me a fiberglass box to fit under teh back seat. I cant wait.

I'm pretty sure I'll have them do it, I sure don't want to burn my truck up...Was thinking of either a JVC or Sony head unit, unsure about speakers yet....I figure the facotry ones are probably real cheapies..

I have an alpine head unit with alpine type s speakers up front with pioneers in the back. love it all and best buy did it. It sounds great and has been in there for 3 years. And then for a lil base I have 2 cvr 10's with a 1800 watt fosgate amp. Love the sound of all the speakers and the head unit is very nice!!

i have an alpine headunit with infinity reference series in the doors and 2 12" Alpine type s subs behind the seat. truck didn't have rear speakers when i got it and i haven't gotten around to putting any back there. LoL. with just the speakers i have it sounds really good though. i have a headliner that i'm bout to put in the truck that holds 4 4 1/2" speakers and 4 tweeters so we will see how that sounds. LoL.

Oh yeah and wiring the cd player and speakers is really easy. i wire all my own stuff and make my own speaker boxes and stuff.
