I agree a 5.5' doesn't cut it for me, but on a crew ranger midsize probably the biggest they would go. Should have a 6.5' option on the crew IMO. My 6 3/4' bed is too small sometimes, then I break out the trailer.

the_webers_inc is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
According to the specs, that is a 5ft (1530mm) bed, the supercab has a 5.75ft (1753mm) bed & the regular cab has a huge 7.5ft (2280mm) bed! Sounds like a pretty well rounded offering.

Here's a link to the PDF that I am getting these specs from: http://www.ford.co.uk/spg/getImage.a..._EN[1].pdf

Here is a picture of a regular cab Euro Ranger:

That crew cab ranger looks sweet. This is why Ford is so dumb. We need the crew cab ranger and the diesel engines other countries get.

That's a great looking small truck. Nice ground clearance too.

Im sure theres some reason why they havent done that yet. Ford is obviously not dumb, they are going to produce anything that they can sell for a profit. One reason for diesels is that we have stricter emission requirements in some states and im sure those engines wont meet that.

i have heard that the ranger screw (double cab) doesn't meet US safety standards. I have no idea if this is true or if it was an old version. Do they even have the gas engine as an option or only the diesel

The F-100 isn't replacing the ranger, the current ranger will be built untill 2011. Then the new compact 4 cylinder based world ranger will be released in 2012. It will be the same size as the current ranger if not a tad smaller and will have a crewcab and 4x4 option. Rumor has it not only will it have a 4 cylinder gas engine, but also a 4 cylinder diesel option as well. The F-100 will be a mid size between the F-150 and the ranger and will have V-6 or V-8 option. Ford isn't getting a way from building trucks , but expanding on it. There's also to be a new bronco built off the F-100's plateform with removable top and solid axles front and rear.

If I wanted a bigger truck than I would go with the F150. If the Ranger goes away then so will most of the Ranger guys. I for one would go with the Frontier if the Ranger went away.
Toy came out building the Tacoma into the midsize category. Why cant they do the same for the Ranger on the supposed F100 platform. Advertise it well as the "new improved bigger and what not" Ranger. Im a F100 fan but it may be better to stick with the (more recent) Ranger brand.

Yes it comes with a 2.2l petrol as base engine and the range topping Explorer 4.0l V6 you guys have in the states. three diesels are available, a 2.5 di and 2.5 TDi (carried over from the previous generation) and an excvellent new 155horse 280ft/lb 3.0l CRDi and pulls like a train. Supprised to learn the US ranger dont hve crew cab. The Super cab is reletive new to our market but proofs popular along with the Crew cab.

Yeah, we've been screaming for a crewcab ranger for years, instead they gave us the 4-door sport -trac. Truck trend reported that we were getting a crewcab for 09, but that didn't happen. I don't know if we'll get it sooner to help sell the current rangers in it's remaining couple of years. It wouldn't take any R&D since they could copy off of yours. Knowing ford, they just wait untill the world rangers comes out in 2012. Ford sure gave you guy's in S. Africa a nice ranger, crewcab and all.
