2000 F150 CNG Bifuel VIBRATION PROBLEM...HELP !!!!
Ok folks, here is the story.
April this year I received delivery of my new F150 x'cab 2WD CNG-Bifuel F150. As soon as I got it on the freeway, and ramped it up to around 63mph, the whole vehicle started to shake and vibrate. The next day, it didn't seem so bad, so I put it down to a "bad tire". I thought about taking it straight back to the dealer, but knowing that it would require some "test driving" (which no doubt would not be gentle), I decided to keep driving it gently through the run-in period, and then some and then have it looked at during its first oil change. Come 4000 miles, I took it to the dealer for service. They had it several days, and couldn't figure out the problem. Eventually decided to replace the prop/drive-shaft.....and told me to come back when it arrived from Ford. Last week, it was installed. The problem persists. They had it for another day or so, and now say they have located the problem......."a resonance between the drive-shaft and the exhaust system". They installed a small weight, which hangs from the exhaust system.
Took it out yesterday on a smooth black-top, and the problem is still obviously there. As the truck passes through 63mph, there is a distinct vibration.
Anyone have any ideas ????
I paid a lot of money for this vehicle, and I want it to run smoothly.

Ken; Thats a good thought, and in fact I was thinking about that on the way home today......but surely they must of thought of that (or maybe not !). I am due to take it back and they are going to have Ford technical engineers involved. I'll mention it.
Thanks.
Thanks.

The way I look at it, though it may not be the tires, they are obligated to try it. One way or another, its their responsibility to get it right.

2000 F150 CNG Bifuel VIBRATION PROBLEM...HELP !!!!
Hello,
I had the same exact problem with a 2000 F150 XLT SC, 4.6L. Right at 63MPH I got the same vibration. Two service departments worked on the truck and couldn't fix it! Briefly here's what they did:
- Levelized exhaust and engine
- Replaced the drive shaft 4 times
- Replaced the tires 4 times
- Replaced the clutch on the radiator fan
- Replaced the entire rearend assembly (brakes and all)
- Replaced the transmission
After all this and it still had the vibration! I asked for another vehicle and FORD agreed. I ordered a 2001 Super Crew. I'm very pleased with the Super Crew. If you need anymore info you can email me at dickensr at earthlink.net.
