tire question

does anybody know the correct tire size for my 79 f100. My speedo is off by 10 at 60 (ie spedo says 50, actually doing 60) i currently have 225/70r15 tires and the speedo doesnt "jump". thanks in advance.

just some common answers i was giving people when i went to florida in 2006 lol. i was pretty much dressed in my blue jeans, cowboy boots and belt buckle...i turned alot of heads lol. one lady asked me where i was from and said "NeBRASKA??? you folks gots a tornado ever 5 minutes up there, don't cha?" funniest damn thing i heard down there...

...i figured u would need new tires, but a tranny? wat's up w/ that?

Yea, the trans slips going into 3rd, itll even cause a loss of speed, have to be doing about 50 before it'll shift(when getting on the highway) or idling when going down a hill. i can also move the drive shaft at the end of the tail housing and the u joints are good and tight. All in all, its a good truck, paid $400 for it just over a month ago and am using it as a daily driver. the only thing i have done to it is rebuild the carb (fuel leak at accelerator pump) and replaced the radius arm bushings, and built a custom center console. thats it. The funniest thing i have ever heard is when i was out in va beach when i was in the military and i went up to DC to visit a friend of mine and they wondered what a cow was, never seen one, thought they only existed in zoos, no kidding.

it looks as though my tires should be 235/75R15 instead of 225/75R15, that wouldnt cause a 10mph difference at 60 (spedo shows 50) one wouldn't think

ha, i'll believe it! i heard that a few years back, schools in new york were taking kids to dairy farms to show them where milk comes from and they had a huge problem w/ kids not eating anything dairy lol! Like ole John "sunshine on my shoulders" Denver said, thank God i'm a country boy!!

that sucks about ur tranny! which one do u have? i've also go a website that has all the ford tranny's and all the gear ratios if ur looking at swapping instead of just replacing...

Bronco Tranny and T-Case Info - FSB Forums

helpful if u need to kno anything about them!

Man you gotta love those $400 trucks! Funny thing is my speedo didnt change when I went from 235/75's to my 32x11.5's. Of course not too much later my speedo quit working alltogether. Maybe that had more to do with it.

yea i understand that, my 77 sc that i had, and miss, had 31x10.50r15 and it was right, i have a feeling that since i have a problem in the tailshaft that could be causing the problem, so i need to either buy a new trans or have mine rebuilt lots of money i dont have right now to do either so itll have to be that way
