F-150 Paint Choice

I am ordering a new F-150 truck. I would like to get silver, but it will be in the Arizona sun 24/7. Will the paint hold up or oxidize quickly? Would white be a better choice.
Thanks.

First, my opinion in this area is not an expert opinion. Its just experience. My father in law had many paint problems with a silver F150.
It had to be repainted twice before it was "right." However, this was during the early 90s when American makers had so many paint problems (supposedly because of EPA regulations). Other's experience may differ.

I would be inclined to go with the new "Arizona Beige" (replaced Harvets Gold) or White.

LAST EDITED ON 19-Jul-00 AT 10:13 PM (EST)[p]silver paints from times gone by were not uv friendly. the pigment in silver paint wreaked havoc
on the clearcoat that was supposed to protect it.
It actually baked the clearcoat from underneath.
The last few years have seen many improvements in
paint formulation. I say go ahead and get your silver truck(Iwanted one too but could not find one
at the time) Keep it waxed and you shouldn't have
any major problems. The strange thing is that the dealers paint shops
use a better quality to repaint, than the factory
uses to paint them to begin with. I never could figure that out myself.

I have a Silver Supercrew. It was the color I was looking for and I'm pleased with it. I am pretty meticulous about keeping it waxed. I have noticed that it looks a little splotchy on the tailgate and that there is a little dust under the clear coat in one spot. I can live with that though. I live in San Diego and I do go out to the deserts alot to ride quads.
