Time to upgrade the tailgate

Gooseneck trailers can really put a hurtin on a tailgate. Parked under my trailer and forgot to leave the tailgate down when I went to drive off.

Just picked up an 08 tailgate so that will be a nice little upgrade.

almost, you need to trade out the driver pivot point with a 10.00 part from ford. The newer 08+ tailgates have a spring assist so instead of it being a round mount its slotted.

Nice! I am looking for a replacement myself...as well as a way to reinforce the bed side of the tailgate for the idiots that keep dropping hay bales on it and jacking it up.

I haven't done that one yet. I take my tailgate off when using the goose neck hitch so I can see the front better backing up. Thought about getting one of those mesh gates for just that purpose but taking the gate off is free..

Here is what you get when you forget to put the tailgate up and back the trailer up to turn around..... Oops

Jammed the trailer's spare tire into the side of the trailer and sliced it open

Snapped the pivot pins and bent the lower corners of the fenders so those has to be straightened as well.

Man that does suck. Glad it was just my tailgate, didn't affect the bed or the trailer.

How much are you guys paying for tailgates, in my area the going rate is about 700.00. I found one for 450.00 and grabbed it. Its white so I will have to have it painted as well. No step or camera which is fine with me.

For a similar year tailgate $300+.... newer style $500+ And not a chance it will be the same color. My paint color was only used for about 3yrs then they change it a bit. Enough to easily see a side by side difference so whatever I get, needs to be painted.
