OK, i got the water pump off finnaly. took a little blue propane torch and too much of my patience. I need some tips on getting the pulley off the balancer and getting the balancer off, im a little confused.

I went to take off the pulley and accidently move the crankshaft, i got it back to the 0 mark but hopefully it didnt mess anything up?

Fuel lines can be ugly. You need the disconnect tool and some lube. Spray the lube on the connector, push the tool into the joint, grab both sides of the lines with your hands and while pushing the tool into the joint push together and then pull apart. You will have to work the joints a bit before they will come apart.

One more question before i call it a night. Is there a trick to keeping the balancer at tdc and loosening the nut on the balancer? I put it past tdc a little, then put it in gear and turn the balancer until it catches, but i can never get it to catch on tdc. Theres surely a simple solution, im just too dumb to figure it out.

An impact wrench is the ticket for removing these bolts, otherwise you need a big strap wrench around the balancer and an equally big wrench on the crank bolt.

I got the bolt off the balancer with a socket and a el cheapo strap wrench. Easier than i thought it would be actually. Now for the fuel lines. I had my mom stop and get a disconnect tool. heres what she came home with. I have no idea what I am supposed to do with it and Im not even sure its the right tool. Fitting is there too.

Corroded water pump studs. What does a new set run? And whats with the crud on the backing plate?

In the pic below you would open the tool and put it around the fuel line on the fuel rail side and push it into the connector(after you spraw some WD40 on the connector). Then grab the fuel line on each side of the connector and work it in and out as you hold the tool in the connector. Cleak as mud?

Yeah you need 2 different sized tools.. they are available in sets as well. The fuel line has a pair of o-rings on it where it plugs into the fuel rail so it is tight, but be patient and work it a bit and it will eventually come apart.

Who would have thought one of the hardest parts of this while thing would be getting the fuel lines off. Im pulling and pressing spraying PB blaster everywhere, things are budging and im not really even sure what im pulling off. I push the tool in and pull the hose and it just pulls back revealing the smaller hose inside it.

Keep working at it you'll figure it out. Just make sure the tool is in far enough. The tool pushes the retainers up off the fuel line allowing it to come out. You gotta put it over the male side of the fuel line connection with the male side of the tool towards the connection then you push the tool in you should feel it hit the retainer then push futher and you'll feel it push up the retainer and past the reatainer. Then pull the lines apart the tool will come out with the line. After the retainers are up out of the way the lines come apart prettty easy. Once you get one out you'll see how it all works.

That sounds extremly easy, but im pushing that little piece of plastic in there so hard my fingers are going numb. nothing is happening other than me bending the fuel rail, whoever designed those needs a swift kick.
