My '77 F150 Factory 460 Truck.

I lowered it a bunch but the lightning wheels raised it up some.

Had a bunch of different 460's in it including a couple different CJ Aluminim headed ones. Best all around was a modded D3 head that flowed almost as well.

Street Roller cam etc.

How / how much is it lowered and what size tires are you running?

I have a vested interest, as I'm running the same wheels/tires on my '77 and lowering with dream beams in the front and most likely a flip kit in the rear...

ol school

Did you do the beams in front and the shackle and hanger kit. I did the 3/4 kit mine isn't as low as yours. Considering removing the overload leaf and the second.

Yes I did beams in the front and for the back I flipped the front leaf spring hanger and removed the overload leaf. Then I had to add axle shims to get my pinion angle right.

Here is my 78 F-150 Ranger Lariat. Currently under body-work. The front is lowered by 1.5 coils, and 2" shackle in the rear, And I just bought the hangar from DJM wednesday night,

Here is what I am going for.

And here It is after coming back from the exhaust shop.

Nice. Renderings are helpful in staying focused. I hope that the six lug wheels were just part of the artistic license! A product of your work?

Are the bumper cutouts for brake ducts or lights? I'm planning to do the latter and then a custom air dam with brake ducts in 'em. Post up a thread when ya get to it... I'm sure our fellow FTE'ers would be interested in that low-buck mod.

The 6 lug wheels are something similar I wanna get for it, But in a 5 lug. And the holes in the bumper are for like 08 GMC Foglights ( I think they are from a denali tahoe)

And this is where I temporary wired them just to make sure they worked and can be aimed.

Awesome. That looks really good - especially with the square headlights.

It's kind of ironic that your source was a GM product.... I got lil 4-inch rounds from a Pontiac. That's prolly the only good thing that GM is good for... donating parts!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that bucket in front of your truck used to contain drywall compound. Lately I've had too much experience with the stuff.

I also really like the rendering of the truck to use as a goal and to stay focused. I really like the Eddie Bauer paint style on the truck. It looks very, very nice, hmmmmm...... I am also going to go for a front airdam effect on mine this year as well and add front brake ducts going to the front brakes. I tow with mine a lot and even though I have the big brakes F250 option it may need more cooling to help everything out a bit. The goal on mine is a resto with more of a roadrace look to it using standard road race effects, side dumps and all.

I dropped mine some by re-arching the rear springs and cutting 1 coil from the front springs, but the nose is still too high. I could heat the coils a bit to drop it more, but I would be severely limiting front travel. Anyone know of a drop I-Beam set that works with an F250? All the ones I have seen are for the F100/F150 chassis?

Thanks,

Eric

There are a lot of great trucks in here and a lot of great info. I hope Im Not too late in asking or beating a dead horse here, but I have a 78 flare side. I don't want anything too low. Maybe a 2/4. Thinking of shackle / hanger for the rear. For up front im thinking of lowering springs. I Found some from a company called crown suspension out of California. Do y'all think this will be ok? They sell a 2"drop spring for f100's

Thank y'all in advance

You can easily cut the springs up front with a grinder or sawzaw. I cut 2 full coils of my truck along with the 3" drop I beams to make it sit how I wanted.

Thank you for the quick response. I thought about cutting them but, one side is sagging bad.So I was thinking of g new coils, but then I saw the drop springs. do you think the lowering springs will compare to new springs with cut coils?

I also cut two coils out of mine and I am sitting on factory bumpstops. Are you aswell sitting on the bumps? I thought about buying some thinner one from the local autoparts store.
