Edelbrock performer carb fuel line

Do I need a fuel line kit to use the edelbrock performance series 600cfm carb on a 351m or can I make the stock one work ? its a 77' f-150 auto trans.

If your fuel line is how it came from the factory, you should have a screw-in filter in your 2 barrel carburetor, and a barbed metal fuel line coming from the outlet of the pump. The filter in this setup connects via a short length of hose. The Edelbrock carburetor comes with a barbed fitting, so you just use an inline filter. A short length of hose connects the carburetor fitting to one end of the fuel filter, and another short length of hose connects the other end of the fuel filter to the barbed end of the fuel line. Remember with inline fuel filters, the direction of flow matters and is marked on the filter.

and be wary if you get one of those hi-po super micron filters with the glass casing that uses replaceable filter canisters - it's easy to get the direction of flow mixed up on those...at least for me.

The one in the picture is called a banjo fitting. It's to direct the fuel line downward to keep it out of the way. It's not really necessary.

I have the same question as to what to use on this setup. I do not have the stock steel line anymore that goes from the pump to the carb. So....what are most guys using, just fuel rated rubber hose or has anyone bent a new steel line up to the carb???

What do you currently have coming out of your pump? The stock pump uses an inverted flare fitting, so you need a metal line with a flare fitting to mate. In stock form, the other end of the line is barbed so as to accept a rubber hose and clamp. Some folks opt for a more expensive braided line, for looks.

Here is how I did mine, though it's on a 460. The line goes directly to the pump with the fittings adapted from the factory. Edelbrock 650cfm with Gates CFC Type AII 2 wire big rig hose + 1200 degree insulation sleeve. I had to get adapter fittings to connect the larger fuel line to the carb, which has a threaded connection. If you want more specifics let me know and I can look up the parts in my records.

Dak, nice looking setup there. if your records are easy to get to, i'd be interested in knowing more specifics. Thanks!
Eric

Did you have to use the transmission kickdown linkage extension for that carb? I did on my 400 with that carb.

I have the 750 cfm Edelbrock with electric choke on my 460. I didn't need the extension with the stock manifold. I switched to a Edelbrock Performer with the EGR port and had to add the extension to the linkedge for the Auto trany.

Dak, where did you buy the hose / fittings? also what size are the different fittings from the pump and the fitting going into the carb.

Ok, I'll get back at ya in a PM when I pull the paperwork. I do recall that it was at a local industrial truck parts place, but can't recall the name/sizes, etc. at the moment (in fact I had to write it all down just to remember to get the right sizes when I got them!...oh this getting old stuff if for the birds!)
Cheers,
Dak
